Looking for a New Kia SUV for a Marietta Adventure? Check Out the 2019 Kia Sorento

There's plenty to do in the Cobb County seat, from hiking Sope Creek Trail to explore the Civil War paper mill ruins to making a day of fun with the whole family at Six Flags White Water. But not every mid-size crossover SUV is up to the task. Enter the Kia Sorento, however, and you'll find one that checks all the boxes for discovering Marietta. In fact, it's a compelling alternative that more of our neighbors prefer to everyday SUVs like the Honda Pilot. Compare the new Sorento and its Honda rival here in Smyrna, GA at Ed Voyles Kia, and you'll see what we mean.

  • For one, you've got more engine choices. Sorento makes available both a high-efficiency 2.4-liter inline-four and a workhorse 3.3-liter V6. Pilot has but one: a 3.5-liter V6. Though Pilot might get the jump on Sorento at base, 280 horsepower to 185, ours rockets up to 290 horsepower in higher trims, making it the more capable option.
  • That's reflected under the hood, too. Dynamax&#trade; All-Wheel Drive may be just as available across the line as Intelligent Variable Torque Management (i-VTM4) AWD is in Pilot, and both SUVs can sure tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, but it's Sorento that takes care of it more efficiently. Its FWD base can get excellent fuel economy, up to 22 MPG in cities, 29 MPG across highways, and 25 MPG combined, according to EPA estimates. A base Pilot with 2WD gets only about 19 MPG, 27 MPG, and 22 MPG respectively. Even Pilot Touring, a little closer to Sorento efficiency, still only gets a respective 20 MPG, 27 MPG, and 23 MPG or so.
  • Sorento is the roomier option, with a sprawling 154.2-cubic-foot interior. Pilot measures only 152.9 cubic feet at base, and only 153.1 cubic feet in trims like Pilot Elite.
  • Ours is also the more durable choice. YES Essentials-treated cloth seating comes standard in lower trims. Honda's standard cloth seating isn't as impervious to spills or stains.
  • Sorento is also better-equipped to keep you connected and entertained. It offers 7.0-inch UVO play and UVO eServices touchscreen options and an 8.0-inch variant with voice-command navigation in upper trims. Pilot offers only a 5.0-inch LCD in its base trim and an 8-inch Display Audio model in those higher. Plus, ours standardizes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphone integration. To get it in Pilot, you'll have to advance to the EX trim.
  • A new Kia Sorento is even a more affordable purchase or lease for your Marietta drive than a Honda Pilot, weighing in at around $25,990 to start. Pilot starts out at a costly $31,450 or so.
