2021 Kia Soul Model Review in Smyrna, GA
The Kia Soul has been known for its fun and original silhouette for over a decade. Over the years, Kia has worked tirelessly to improve this classic model. The 2021 Kia Soul is built to last, retaining style remnants of the past while building upon its critiques. Inside its boxy body is plenty of cargo space, the latest in infotainment features, and a number of driver assistance options. These culminate into a personality-packed SUV, perfect for city and suburban driving. The Soul is ideal for new drivers with its controlled handleability, but it also keeps its relevance for families and longtime fans of Kia. If you’ve been in the market for an exciting SUV that packs a punch and makes a statement, the 2021 Kia Soul is perfect for you.
The 2021 Kia Soul Trim Options
One of the Soul’s main selling points over the years has been its affordability, and the 2021 model is no different. Right out of the gate, a base LX trim will run you just over $18,000. This is remarkably affordable for any vehicle, let alone an SUV with foldable back seats. Your trim options are as follows:
- LX
- S
- X-Line
- GT-Line
- EX
- Turbo
The differences between the LX and S are in the details, but the X-Line and GT-Line are where you’ll find your style choices. The X-Line focuses on rugged strength, while the GT-Line is all about sporty excitement. The EX and Turbo have built-in remote start and a litany of other features, and the Turbo starts at $28,600–still extremely affordable for an SUV’s top line.
Engine and Performance
The first five trims are going to come with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is paired with a zippy CVT. The Turbo has a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission. While some may prefer the performance of an automatic transmission over a CVT, there’s not much power lost between the two, and you won’t feel a loss should you choose one of the lower trims. In terms of gas mileage, though, the Turbo does the best, with 33 MPG on the highway. The other trims don’t focus on mileage, so if you’re looking for a Soul that is particularly efficient, go for the Turbo.
2021 Kia Soul Infotainment
As expected, all Soul trims come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, paired with Kia’s UVO interface. Lower trims come with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and the EX and Turbo trims come with a 10.3-inch display. The higher two trims will also net you SiriusXM satellite radio and navigation.
The 2020 Kia Soul was a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS. We expect the 2021 model to follow, as most standard safety features come with the S model and above.
